A False Start

Due to some technical difficulties (both home computers are on the verge of collapse and we're borrowing one from Brian's work) the blogging hasn't exactly taken off yet. Once my new laptop arrives and I can get pictures downloaded, I will amaze all with my blogging abilities.

To Blog or Not to Blog...That is the Question

I have fought the urge to blog for a year now. Like so many fellow bloggers, I do a miserable job of keeping a journal and yet I crave having a family record. What has finally put me over the edge is that over the past couple of weeks, I have found myself composing blog entries in my head and taking pictures for the sole purpose of putting them on my make-believe blog. I suppose it’s time to come to terms with the fact that I want one. I have an incessant need to weigh the pros and cons of any decision, and I think finally the pros have won out. For your reading enjoyment, I have included my pro/con list:

Pros:
1) having a family record of sorts
2) easier method for keeping in touch with loved ones
3) provides a constant stream of current pictures for said loved ones
4) provides a vehicle for organizing my random thoughts throughout the day
5) I no longer need to be a closet scrapbooker—I can basically do the same thing, but be cool doing it.

Cons:
1) this may test the limits of my creative ability—how many original, clever posts can I come up with?
2) I may have said once or twice how personal blogs are like a year-round Christmas card—they can be a little self-congratulatory.
3) The whole privacy issue really gets me—I need to think this one through. I’ve always been a fairly private person and I don’t know that I want my life (as mundane as it may seem to many) broadcast…maybe a private blog is the ticket. I’ll revisit this.
4) I have enough to do already—do I really want to add blogging to my list of things to do?
