I did it.
I ache all over, my quads are stiff as boards, but
I'm delighted through and through.
Nothing feels so good as achieving a goal. It was exhilarating. The months of training paid off. My biggest fans cheered me into the finish line: Brian, Ella, Samantha and my parents.
These are the lovely ladies I had the privilege of running with. We loaded up on pasta the night before at Gina's home.
This picture of me with the girls after the race is amusing. Ella is wrapped in my blanket and Samantha is eating my banana after I'm the one who ran 13 miles. A mother's love knows no bounds.
People keep asking me what my next race will be. I don't know the answer to that yet. But today, as I waddle around, I have little interest. I'm hoping that the effects of running a race are similar to childbirth. After you go through it, you are convinced you don't want to endure that pain again. But then as time passes, the memory of the accomplishment and sheer joy from the experience is what lingers. And that ends up being enough to do it again.
We'll see.

Congratulations Jana!!!! How about the SLC marathon on the 24th of July next?
Way to go Jana!
I am SO happy for you. It's the delight over setting and achieving a goal that usually brings me back. And, it did take me a few half-marathons before I decided that I wanted to move onto the full marathon. Half-marathons are almost the perfect race. Love the picture of you and your little girls. That is a classic after-race photo of a true mom!
Congrats!!!! I'm so proud of you!
Wahoo! FABULOUS running, Jana! You are ready to take on the world! (I also waddled, Aaron said: "Hey, I recognize that walk!" - from when I was pregnant. : ) I am so grateful to have bonded with you over this experience, and for all the training runs, when I learned so much about you and from you! (And Gina and Laura too!)
I love that picture of you and Laura and you and your girls!
Yea! I was thinking about you all Saturday and hoping it went well!! Congrats.
You are a better woman than I. :) Congrats!
Great job, Jana! It was well worth the pain! It's been a pleasure to get to spend a little time with you and get to know you and your family a little better. I'm sure you'll do another race!
I am so impressed! I used to run a 10K every 4th of July, but it's been a while. I am super jealous and hope to someday run a half marathon! That really is so cool!
Way to go for you Jana...I need to get in that kind of shape. Your girls are as cute as ever. This is such a fun way to see them, since who knows when the next time will be. Love ya!
